The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), has identified political stability and institutional harmony as key conditions for sustaining Nigeria’s national security. In a statement issued by the Special Assistant to the Minister of Defence on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the Minister described Yilwatda as a scholar, administrator and statesman whose leadership of the ruling party carries significance beyond partisan politics. He noted that political stability and constructive relations among institutions and stakeholders were important to creating an environment conducive to national development and security. Musa acknowledged Yilwatda’s role in leading the APC, stressing that stable political institutions and responsible political engagement could contribute to national cohesion and strengthen the country’s broader security architecture. The Minister therefore used the occasion to underscore the connection between effective political leadership, institutional stability and sustainable national security.
