Minor coastal flooding possible through midweek during high tide
[]
Big Island Now
National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu advise that peak monthly high tides combined with higher-than-predicted water levels will lead to minor flooding during the first part of this week in low-lying coastal areas throughout the islands.
Vulnerable low-lying coastal roadways, docks, boat ramps and other coastal infrastructure could be impacted by expected isolated minor coastal flooding around daily peak tide during the afternoons through at least Tuesday.
Flooding of normally dry beaches, minor coastal erosion and saltwater inundation in those areas is possible.
Tides are forecast to decrease by Aug. 12; however, coastal flooding could still be possible in select locations where water levels are running the highest.
You can submit coastal flooding photos to University of Hawai‘i Sea Grant College Hawai‘i and Pacific Islands King Tides Project.
