On Wednesday, August 12, the moon will move across the face of the sun in the biggest partial solar eclipse visible from Britain since 1999. The partial eclipse will run from about 6.15pm to 8.10pm in Devon, reaching its peak of just under 95 per cent of totality at about 7.16pm. Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth offer some of the easiest coastal choices. Further east, Seaton seafront and the western end of the beach offer level access, amenities and a wide sea view. Budleigh’s beach and clifftop paths offer open skies but more coastal lighting.
