This is Nolan’s first film since 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises to clear $1 billion USD, making it only the second billion-dollar title of his career.
The Odyssey is on track to become Nolan’s highest-grossing release ever, overtaking the $1.085 billion USD earned by The Dark Knight Rises.
The Odyssey has drawn $429.7 million USD domestically and $570.3 million USD overseas for its billion-dollar total.
Combined with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the two films account for around $2.1 billion USD globally and are poised to pass the $2.4 billion USD that Barbie and Oppenheimer earned together during the 2023 Barbenheimer summer.
The run has also helped push Universal past $4 billion USD worldwide for the year.
