The event, organised by the Worcester Branch of the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regimental Association (WFRA), will take place on Saturday, August 15 at the Malayan Memorial Bench near the Worcestershire Regimental Stone, starting at 10.45am. Civil dignitaries and veterans will attend, with opportunities to lay wreaths and poppy crosses in memory of all who served in the campaign. Following that event, local requests were made for an annual commemoration, particularly from families whose fathers and uncles served in the campaign. A spokesperson said: "The British Navy, Army and Royal Air Force were heavily involved in the fighting throughout this conflict. Members of the public, especially those with family links to the campaign, are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
