AI datacentres put water and energy under pressure

Shafaqna English- As artificial intelligence accelerates the expansion of datacentres, communities and governments are confronting a growing conflict over two increasingly scarce resources: water and electricity.
The town hosts the densest concentration of datacentres in western Europe, with as many as 40 facilities already operating and more planned.
The expansion has brought renewed scrutiny because datacentres require enormous amounts of electricity and water.
Water UK, which represents water companies across the UK, recently warned that government water forecasts fail to account adequately for datacentres.
The rapid growth of AI is therefore creating a difficult tension between digital infrastructure expansion and climate objectives.
