Australian teachers say students are praising Hitler and drawing swastikas, while some have claimed Jewish people deserve terrorist attacks. This week, the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion is investigating how extremist ideas are spreading among young people. Dr Meger said antisemitism surfaced repeatedly in the responses, even though teachers had not been directly asked about anti-Jewish prejudice. Separately, teachers described antisemitic slurs, Nazi symbols and praise for violence against Jews. Political sociologist Joshua Roose said some disadvantaged individuals are drawn to narratives blaming Jews for economic, political or social problems.
