Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on political parties, candidates and their supporters to shun violence and work towards a peaceful conduct of the August 15 governorship election.
His appeal came amid heightened political tension ahead of the election, with the former lawmaker urging political actors to avoid actions capable of creating fear or discouraging eligible voters from exercising their constitutional rights.
Oyintiloye urged the security agencies to discharge their responsibilities professionally and remain neutral and accountable throughout the electoral process.
Oyintiloye condemned acts of violence, killings, intimidation and destruction associated with political activities, urging political leaders and their supporters to moderate their language and avoid inflammatory rhetoric.
