WB hospitals observe 2-minute silence on second anniversary of RG Kar doctor’s deathWest Bengal observed the second anniversary of the RG Kar doctor’s rape and murder with two-minute silence at government hospitals.
The West Bengal Junior Doctors’ Front, which led extensive protests following the discovery of the post-graduate trainee’s body on August 9, 2024, held a clinic for underprivileged people at Chitpur in north Kolkata.
A two-minute silence was observed by doctors, nurses and other officials at all government hospitals in memory of the doctor.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Sharadwat Mukherjee and senior officials observed a two-minute silence at Swasthya Bhavan, the department’s headquarters, in Salt Lake.
The victim doctor’s mother was elected to the West Bengal Assembly as a BJP candidate from Panihati in North 24 Parganas district in the April elections.
