For an introvert, success can start to feel like a demand to become permanently more visible, more spontaneous and more socially available. A quieter person still has to make their contribution visible, but visibility and volume are not the same thing. An introvert does not need twenty interventions if one well-timed contribution changes the direction of the discussion. Its useful contribution is smaller: people do not consistently read every effective leadership act as outgoing or socially dominant. An introvert does not need to win every minute of attention.
