The incident has once again brought the issue of smuggling and border security into focus. Sources said a group of five to six Bangladeshi youths was noticed moving near the border fencing. However, when the youths allegedly continued moving towards the border, firing was resorted to. The body was subsequently recovered and sent to Unakoti District Hospital for post-mortem examination. Dr Imran Ahmed, duty doctor at Unakoti District Hospital, said the body of a deceased Bangladeshi national was brought to the hospital at around 11 am.
