The condition of Somerset’s rural roads was the most common issue raised. Residents spoke about potholes, deteriorating surfaces and a lack of routine maintenance, with many saying rural roads are simply not being cared for to the standard they expect. Many residents also raised wider issues around access to local healthcare services and the need for improved provision. Residents spoke about the impact of shoplifting, anti‑social behaviour and the need for a stronger visible police presence to help keep communities safe. “The issues raised with me will continue to be a key focus of my work both locally and in Parliament.”
