Health Minister Mark Butler has downplayed polling figures showing Labor’s primary vote dropping to 29 per cent, putting it toe-to-toe with One Nation. The latest Newspoll, conducted for The Australian by Pyxis Polling & Insights, shows Labor at its weakest primary vote level since June 2013 when Julia Gillard was still prime minister. Camera Icon Anthony Albanese’s net approval rating dropped to minus-22 as voters continued to report pressure from living costs. Camera Icon Senator Hanson placed second as preferred prime minister in the latest poll, behind Mr Albanese but ahead of Angus Taylor. His net approval rose to minus-12, and he reduced Albanese’s lead on the question of who would make the better prime minister.
