Grand opening for rebuilt Hamby Saddle Warming Shelter is Aug. 30STITES — The Valley Cats and Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest have rebuilt the Hamby Saddle Warming Shelter and will hold a celebratory grand opening there from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 30. It was nothing more than a pavilion when it was built, just a roof on stilts. “People have used that to shelter through the night from blizzards,” said Wood. Working together, the club and federal agency secured grant funding and started the rebuild in June. Wood said it’s nearly done and will be by the grand opening.
