The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners has approved a $420 million Fiscal Year 2027 operating budget that maintains current tax rates while increasing investments in education, school safety, transportation infrastructure, and employee compensation. Among the budget’s highlights is $169 million in local funding for the Calvert County Board of Education, exceeding the state’s Maintenance of Effort requirement by $9.2 million. The budget also funds six new School Resource Officer positions, ensuring every public school in Calvert County will have a dedicated officer. The approved budget also includes $10 million for road paving and transportation improvements, approximately $3 million for snow removal operations, and continued funding for water, sewer, solid waste, and recycling services. Commissioners also approved a six-year, $579 million Capital Improvement Program, with $183 million dedicated to school construction, renovations, and maintenance.
