Sanaa — Yemen’s Ministry of Culture strongly condemned the bombing of the historic Dar al‑Mualla fortress in the village of Amshakhab, Al‑Zahir Al‑Humaiqan district of Al‑Bayda province, describing the attack by Houthi militias as a crime against one of the landmarks embodying Yemen’s deep history and national identity. It called the destruction a crime against Yemen’s national memory and humanity’s shared heritage. The ministry stressed that such practices aim to erase historical features and dismantle Yemen’s civilizational foundations. It urged international and local organizations, particularly UNESCO, to assume their legal and moral responsibilities and take urgent action to safeguard archaeological and historical sites from further destruction. Reiterating its appeal, the ministry called for the prosecution of those involved in targeting Yemen’s cultural heritage, emphasizing that no party proven guilty of such crimes should escape accountability.
