Sanaa — Houthi militias launched heavy attacks on Sunday against government‑held areas in western Yemen, striking the port city of Mokha and nearby Al‑Khokha with rockets and drones. Witnesses reported six explosions at Mokha’s port on the Red Sea, with officials saying the Houthis deployed nearly 20 drones in the operation. Later reports indicated that a missile strike targeted a residential building housing staff of the Saudi hospital in Mokha. The Houthis claimed responsibility, saying the attacks were aimed at “military gatherings and weapons depots,” and framed them as retaliation against government reinforcements along the western coast and in Taiz. On Sunday, the Houthis also claimed responsibility for a drone strike on an Aramco refinery in Jazan, southwestern Saudi Arabia, where Saudi authorities confirmed extinguishing a fire.
