Some of these townhouses could be designed to house multiple generations of the one family. The ground floor design could accommodate independent separate and single-level living for the grandparents while their children and grandchildren occupy the above two levels. Over time the three generations could benefit from such a design, with grandparents being able to assist in caring and supervising grandchildren in the early years. Later, the grandparents could enjoy the security, care and support from their family so close at hand. While I appreciate that not all families would want to reside in such close proximity, others may welcome and enjoy such a secure and supportive lifestyle.
