Jake McCarthy belted two home runs out of Busch Stadium and dented the plate two more times to pace the Colorado Rockies to an 8-6 win over the St Louis Cardinals on Saturday, Aug. 8. McCarthy set the tone on the game’s first pitch from Matthew Liberatore, crushing it 420 feet to right-center field. The Cardinals would respond in the bottom of the first, when José Fermín’s grounder to left field scored Iván Herrera and Alec Burleson. McCarthy had his fourth hit of the game in the top of the ninth, which became the Rockies’ final run after a stolen base, balk and sacrifice fly by Karros. The Cardinals claimed their final run with two outs in the ninth, when Nathan Church’s single brought home Fermín.
