Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has inspected a section of a bridge vandalised along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway at Vin-Niger in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, assuring residents that the damage did not affect the structural stability of the facility.
Sanwo-Olu conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the affected bridge pillar on Saturday and confirmed that the ongoing construction work remained intact despite the incident.
According to the governor, the vandals excavated portions of the structure and removed fittings used to secure the bridge.
Sanwo-Olu called on residents to take greater responsibility for protecting public assets by reporting suspicious activities to security agencies and relevant authorities.
The governor commended personnel of the Lagos State Police Command, Rapid Response Squad, Lagos State Neighbourhood Watch and members of the Kick Against Indiscipline initiative for their swift response to the incident.
