The event has been organised by Llais Prestatyn, a group promoting Welsh language activities, and will be held at HQ Pencadlys on Friday, August 28 (5-10pm). Headlining the event will be Meinir Gwilym, who hails from Anglesey and started song-writing as a teenager, and her band, bringing their take on Welsh-language folk to the town. Meinir, who also studied Welsh literature and philosophy in Bangor University, released her first full-length album, Dim Ond Clwydda (Nothing But Lies), in 2003. Elliw Jones will also perform an acoustic set, while the programme also features a Welsh folk session (Sesiwn Werin Gymraeg), inviting musicians to join in with traditional tunes. The Rob Savva Uke Band will be bringing ukulele-led arrangements to classic and modern songs.
