The 26-year-old had been caught out driving an Audi A6 on the A49 at Harewood End in south Herefordshire with a tyre worn or damaged beyond the legal limit on February 9, magistrates in Kidderminster heard. An evidential blood test revealed he had 149 microgrammes of cocaine metabolite benzoylecgonine per litre of blood on the same date, the court was told, exceeding the legal limit of 50 microgrammes. He had also been caught in possession of a folding pocket knife with a blade exceeding three inches without good reason or lawful authority at Ross-on-Wye's A40 Wilton Service Station on August 2, magistrates were told. Magistrates said the knife offence was so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified. Etheridge-Barnes, of Church View, Much Dewchurch, was handed a six-month prison term suspended for 12 months, while the knife was ordered to be forfeited.
