KFC applied to Herefordshire Council for planning permission in autumn 2024 to turn the ground floor of the former Clifton bingo hall, previously a cinema, in Leominster’s Westbury Street into a “drive-to” restaurant. The rear of the Clifton building is to be simplified to become the main entrance to the KFC (Image: application)A KFC spokesperson confirmed it still planned to implement the restaurant plan, but declined to give a likely timescale. A separate planning application to approve new signage at the building has not yet been published. Meanwhile fellow fast food chain Domino’s has just been granted planning permission to turn the former HSBC bank building in Broad Street, also grade II listed, into a takeaway outlet. McDonald’s withdrew a proposal to build a drive-through on the west side of Leominster in 2020, though it said at the time it “remained committed to the town”.
