Milk prices in Maharashtra will rise by Rs 2 per litre from August 11, as the Centre says there is no proposal to introduce an MSP for milk.
Mumbai: Milk will become costlier in Maharashtra from Tuesday, August 11, with the price of both cow and buffalo milk set to increase by Rs 2 per litre.
Why milk prices are being watched closelyThe Maharashtra price revision comes amid continued discussions around balancing the interests of dairy farmers with the impact of rising milk prices on consumers.
The government said it was taking several measures aimed at protecting dairy farmers, stabilising milk prices, safeguarding consumer interests and strengthening quality monitoring in the dairy sector.
It also said these measures had helped increase milk productivity by 67 per cent.
