The IMD has issued a yellow alert for seven districts in Kerala on Sunday, alongside a high-wave 'Kallakkadal' swell warning for multiple coastal belts until August 10. Yellow alert (Heavy rain warning)Heavy rainfall is predicted across Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. A yellow alert denotes isolated heavy rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within a 24-hour period. ‘Kallakkadal’ phenomenon (Swell surge)Simultaneously, the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has sounded a critical ‘Kallakkadal’ (swell surge) alert along several stretches of the Kerala coastline. In addition, the Kanyakumari coast faces a similar surge, with swell waves reaching up to 1.8 metres until 2.30 pm on Monday, August 10.
