Walter Chikwendu Ihejirika, who served two terms as President of SIGNIS Africa, has been elected President of the World Catholic Association for Communication (SIGNIS World), moving from continental to global leadership of the Catholic communicators’ association.
The Nigerian Catholic priest was elected on Friday, August 7, during the SIGNIS World Congress in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Congress brought together hundreds of Catholic communication professionals from over 40 countries under the theme, “Digital Communication for Cultural Harmony and Environmental Well-Being.”
“Rebuild SIGNIS as a network”Speaking shortly after his election, Fr.
Walter pledged to rebuild SIGNIS as a genuine global network by strengthening connections among its members and deepening their commitment to the Church’s evangelizing mission.
