Joseph Pacheco, 46, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison at Ealing Magistrates' Court in Apri, after pleading guilty to 39 counts of theft.
Working closely with the business, officers gathered evidence and built a strong case, ultimately leading to his arrest and conviction.
This week, the Met announced that new retail crime reporting technology has quadrupled the number of shoplifters being brought to justice across London.
Where shoplifting offences are reported using the new technology, 29.4 per cent result in a positive outcome, including a caution or charge.
The Met is now expanding the use of the technology to businesses across Southwark, Lambeth, Sutton, Croydon, Bromley, Hillingdon, Ealing and Hounslow.
