Puʻukoholā Heiau National Historic Site celebrating 54th anniversary with free Hawaiian Cultural Festival

The Puʻukoholā Heiau National Historic Site on the Big Island will celebrate its 54th anniversary as part of the National Park Service with Hoʻokuʻikahi i Puʻukoholā, its free annual Establishment Day Hawaiian Cultural Festival on Aug. 15 and 16.
The weekend in Kawaihae begins at 6 a.m. on Saturday with opening ceremonies at Puʻukoholā Heiau that include hoʻokupu (gift-giving), protocol and hula.
At Hoʻokuʻikahi i Puʻukoholā, a free annual Establishment Day Hawaiian Cultural Festival at the Puʻukoholā Heiau National Historic Site, cultural practitioners share traditional music, hula and demonstrations.
