Forty-six-year-old Jill Marie Morgan entered a guilty plea to theft of property charges against her and was put on probation for 36 months. Her attorney, Emily Reed, said restitution had been paid in full and was in her trust account. According to the probable cause affidavit, each time Morgan visited the store, she would fail to self-check several items in her cart. The amount of the refund was loaded onto an in-store shopping card which Morgan is alleged to have used to purchase merchandise. The alleged activity was detected during a review of “walk-off” receipts when Morgan was alleged to have been observed using the “skip-scan” method to steal merchandise.
