News from Wellington City CouncilThe Wellington City Council is deeply saddened by the death of Councillor Tony Randle, a councillor for Takapū/Northern Ward. Cr Randle was first elected to the Wellington City Council in 2022 and was re-elected in 2025. Mayor Andrew Little says Cr Randle’s contribution to the Council was marked by diligence, care and a commitment to understanding the detail. Cr Randle represented the Takapū/Northern Ward, including communities across Wellington’s northern suburbs, and served on a range of Council committees and subcommittees. Before being voted onto Council, Cr Randle was the president of the Johnsonville Community Association 2020-2022.
