This year’s theme, Childhood Favourites, gave groups plenty of room for imagination as the procession set off from West Road car park at 6pm. Floats, walking groups and performers made their way along Marine Parade West and Marine Parade East before finishing at Victoria Road. The procession is one of the highlights of Clacton Carnival Week, which runs from August 7 to 16 and brings together families, community groups, businesses and charities for a packed programme of events. The carnival association’s street collection this year will support local charities and groups involved in making the carnival possible. Runners can also take part in the Clacton Carnival Half Marathon, 10k and Fun Run on Eastcliff Greensward on Sunday, August 16.
