Because the Department of the Interior belatedly released information that showed that the damage was due to a “botched” and rushed installation, not vandalism as President Trump has insisted. It illustrates the practice of this administration to cover up its mistakes with lies and secrecy at the expense of private citizens and governmental integrity. President Trump’s knee-jerk reaction was to blame anyone but himself or his campaign supporter, who did the work on a no-bid contract, before any evidence could be examined. Let ordinary citizens pay the price of defending themselves to preserve his presidential ego.
