Vergelegen Wine Estate’s celebrated camellia garden is currently at its seasonal peak, offering visitors a rare opportunity to see one of the world’s most respected collections in full bloom, Cape {town} Etc reports. Following another successful Camellia Weekend, the estate says its spectacular display will continue through to the end of September, giving locals and visitors plenty of time to experience the colourful winter attraction. Vergelegen is home to more than 1 000 camellia shrubs and holds a distinction few gardens can claim. It is Africa’s only International Camellia Garden of Excellence, an honour awarded by the International Camellia Society. ‘We were delighted to welcome visitors to experience the blooms at their finest,’ said Vergelegen horticulturist and gardens manager Richard Arm.
