Supplied by Specialist Small Craft Ltd, based in Amesbury, the purpose-built Kontra R450CC has been delivered to the Southampton Independent Lifeboat service. It is the first vessel to be supplied for the newly formed Southampton Independent Lifeboat service. Mark Pullinger, managing director at Specialist Small Craft Ltd, said: "This lifeboat will be used for urban search and rescue on Southampton Water. The Kontra R450CC is designed to launch within 10 minutes and pass under low bridges, making it ideal for the upper Southampton Water area. Specialist Small Craft Ltd produces bespoke vessels based on the Kontra range, which are used across the UK in emergency services, commercial diving, flood response, and as rescue boats for sailing clubs.
