FCRA Amendment Bill 2026: Strengthening accountability, Protecting assets and safeguarding India’s national interests

Organiser
The proposed Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 seeks to strengthen this framework.
Under the existing framework, provisions apply to foreign contributions and assets when an FCRA certificate is cancelled or surrendered.
Time-bound prior permissionThe Bill also proposes greater discipline in cases where organisations without FCRA registration receive foreign contributions through prior permission.
Protecting India’s social fabricThe FCRA framework must also be viewed in the context of India’s social and demographic diversity.
Foreign-funded organisations should not become instruments for purchasing influence, manufacturing narratives or undermining India’s legitimate national interests.
