Canary House Care Limited is seeking permission to change the use of a property in Cotswold Road to create a specialist transition home for young adults moving from children's services into adult care. Planning officers have recommended the application for approval, describing the scheme as a way of helping young people navigate what can often be a challenging transition. Planning documents submitted with the application say moving from children's services into adult care can be particularly difficult for some young people with autism and learning disabilities. The property is currently registered with Ofsted as a five-bed semi-independent service for young people aged between 16 and 21. Under the plans, it would also be registered with the Care Quality Commission, allowing the provider to continue supporting residents with eligible care needs after their 18th birthday.
