The unit was previously occupied by the family-run gelato business and is currently being marketed for sale. Planning documents said the proposed flat would generate less traffic and activity than the former shop and would have no adverse impact on neighbouring properties, transport or highway safety. The plans included a two-bedroom home with an open-plan kitchen and living area behind the existing shopfront, alongside cycle and refuse storage facilities. However, council planning officers refused the application after concluding the proposal could not be determined through the prior approval process and would instead require a full planning application. While the decision blocks the current proposal, it does not prevent the property being converted into housing in future.
