The Executive Secretary of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC), Duncan Amoah, has dismissed claims that investigations involving politicians and public officials amount to an attack on Ghana’s democracy. Mr Amoah said Ghana’s democratic institutions must be allowed to perform their duties, while citizens retain the right to question or criticise the manner in which those institutions operate. He also said he was yet to see a situation in Ghana where an opposition figure was targeted simply for openly expressing political views.
