Law enforcement authorities in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district detained four individuals and demolished an unauthorized eatery setup during raids on shops allegedly selling non-vegetarian food along designated Kanwar Yatra pilgrimage routes. Acting on complaints from local outfits regarding the sale of chicken biryani along the Kanwar route, police and civic municipal teams inspected the spot. Despite prior administrative directives restricting meat and non-vegetarian food sales along designated Yatra pathways, the shop was found operating. Officials noted that advisory notices had been issued to commercial establishments prior to the commencement of Sawan, explicitly prohibiting the sale of meat, chicken, and fish along primary pilgrimage routes to prevent public peace disruptions.
