Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were called at 6.22pm on Saturday to a car fire on the A14 near Newmarket. Crews from Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Mildenhall attended the scene with support from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service crew. To prevent further fire spread crews used hose reels and breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze. After the fire was extinguished, crews remained at the scene to carry out dampening down and check for remaining hotspots. According to a spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, no casualties were reported and a stop was called at 6:58pm.
