Members of the East Durham Group of the County Durham Green Party carried out a litter pick at Easington Colliery Nature Reserve, focusing on the lower area near the car park. The group plans to return in August and September to cover the upland area and hopes to involve more residents in future efforts. A spokesman said: "We hope to cover the upland area of the reserve next time and will also be recording the flora and fauna as we go. "It is hoped that we will be able to establish a Friends group for the reserve."
