George Hodgson has retired after over 40 years of service. After being promoted to a chargehand in 1989, George later became Health & Safety Officer before progressing into other managerial roles. George was described as central to Mech-Tool’s long-standing safety culture and low accident rate. The company spokesperson said: "Not only had George agreed to defer his retirement by saying 'I’ll do it', but he gave me great reassurance by stating 'Leave all that to me'." Reflecting on his career, the company said: "I think George can look back at his eventful career, full of accomplishments and say to himself: 'I did it'."
