Illyria will present The Pirates of Penzance in the castle grounds on Tuesday, August 25. The plot follows Frederick, who was apprenticed to pirates as a child and is under contract to the Pirate King until his 21st birthday. However, when it is discovered that Frederick was born on February 29 in a leap year, the Pirate King realises he has only had four birthdays. The performance, a co-promotion by Mwldan and Cardigan Castle, promises an evening of wit, satire, and music. The performance is recommended for all ages and has a running time of approximately 120 minutes, including a 20-minute interval.
