Ravana became angry out of arrogance, while Lord Shiva was immersed in meditation. Driven by pride in his strength and abilities, Ravana attempted to lift Mount Kailash and take it to Lanka. Lord Shiva then placed the toe of his foot on Mount Kailash to subdue Ravana’s arrogance, causing Ravana to become trapped beneath the mountain. Pleased with his devotion, Lord Shiva freed Ravana.
