Scientists watch electrons assemble and reassemble to help decode complex quantum phenomena

Interesting Engineering
At first glance, the idea that different phases of matter can exist together seems quite ordinary.
Now, physicists at MIT have managed to watch such electronic phases emerge and reassemble in real time.
Their experiment revealed that two such electronic phases do not necessarily emerge in the same way.
This gave the team something particularly valuable: a way to observe the dynamics of the two electronic phases separately.
But the second, subdominant charge density wave, behaved very differently.
