SOCIAL PRESCRIBING and supported self-management could play a greater role in radiation therapy and wider non-surgical oncology care, according to a scoping review that identified opportunities to improve support throughout the cancer care pathway. The researchers highlighted that radiation therapists and other non-surgical oncology professionals are well placed to recommend these interventions but may require additional training to improve their knowledge and confidence. The review concluded that social prescribing and supported self-management should be introduced earlier in the cancer care pathway rather than being delayed until treatment has ended. Prioritising these interventions throughout non-surgical oncology care could help address individual patient needs and improve support during survivorship. ReferenceCasey E, Clarkson M.
