August the 9th, 2026 – Will the new toll collection system set to come into force next year actually manage to reduce the infamous Croatian traffic jams on the motorways? As Poslovni reports, the much anticipated installation of more than 220 portals on motorways across Croatia is currently underway. Appearing on HTV’s programme Studio 4, the director of the Traffic Sector at HAC (Croatian Motorways), Hrvoje Ordulj, touched on the new toll collection system, which is expected to become operational during 2027. “We expect all the portals to be installed by October, and the system could go live during next year,” he said. “Regardless of barriers or the new toll collection system, traffic will stand still if the load is too high,” Ordulj stated.
