The Bernie Police Department reported 612 public interactions and 499 calls for service during July, according to statistics released Aug. 1. The department identified city ordinance violations, assistance to other agencies, service requests, traffic stops, citizen assistance, and nuisance or humane matters as its most frequent calls for service. The 499 calls for service accounted for most of the department’s 612 total public interactions during the month. Traffic enforcementOfficers conducted 121 traffic stops in July. The department reported issuing 56 citations for criminal, nuisance or humane, and traffic violations.
