Ahead of the 2026 college football season, Ohio State is already celebrating a win by landing 5-star quarterback recruit Christopher Vargas. Vargas told Hayes Fawcett of Rivals on Saturday that he will play for the Buckeyes starting in 2028, picking them over several Power Four programs including Oregon, Alabama and Virginia Tech. He was largely connected to Big Ten programs throughout the process with Ohio State and Penn State both getting several looks at him. Vargas told Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors in June he has forged strong ties to Ohio State since the program first started recruiting him in 2024. It's not like Ohio State is ever lacking for elite talent, but history suggests you can never too many good quarterbacks.
