The event was rooted in a landowner interest in new farming methods, including better crop management, livestock breeding, and new farming technology. Other societies were started in the Upper Dee Valley and in the Vale of Clwyd in 1808, and the Flintshire Agricultural Society was formed in 1817. By 1843, the society’s annual meeting - at which the premiums were awarded - was referred to as the Show, which would go on to be known as the Denbigh & Flint Show. The event has travelled all over North Wales, included Wrexham, Flintshire and Denbighshire, settling for a long period on the edge of Rhyl. The Denbigh & Flint Show takes place on Thursday, August 20 at The Green in Denbigh.
